Frances Harder
Frances Harder
Founder and President
                 

Frances Harder is the President and Founder of Fashion Business Incorporated (FBI), which provides vital business development and job retraining programs to the US apparel industry. She is author of Fashion for Profit and has self-published a series of books dealing with starting a fashion business. Fashion for Profit now in its 10th edition is an extensive text that covers the A to Z of starting an apparel company. www.fashionforprofit.com

Frances is a designated United Nations (UN) consultant. Her last assignment was assisting women in Peru to develop Alpaca products. Through her US-based consulting business she consults on product development, branding, merchandising, production and the complex issues when entering the US market. Frances is also registered as an industry expert witness in legal disputes. Frances is a faculty adjunct professor at Woodbury University and Cal Poly Pomona, a member of the Southern California District Export Council (SCDEC), and a founding member of Business Incubation Network (BINS).

Previously she was a full-time associate professor at Otis College of Art & Design, had her name under license in Japan, designed a line for Priscilla Presley for Home Shopping, Technical designer for Territories Ahead, and has a variety of international freelance design commissions.

         
       

Trish Concannon

Trish Concannon's professional experience includes over 15 years in the hospitality industry, where she has held several managerial hands-on positions including sales, customer service and events coordinating. She worked in marketing for K. Hovnanian Homes, a nationally recognized home builder. She held the position of Marketing Administrator for the Southern California Inland Region and coordinated market research effort with the firm’s advertising campaign. Trish worked in sales and merchandising for Launch USA Showroom, the sole US distributer of an Italian Apparel manufacturer. On the production side, she was employed by Critical Mass Manufacturing, a company specializing in an environmentally friendly heat transfer process known as Kinetic Colorization. Her duties included account management as well as product development and testing of various fabrics for color reaction to the company’s heat transfer process. Trish has a Bachelor of Science in Apparel Merchandising and Management from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Trish currently serves as Executive Director of FBI.
        
       

Rob Greenspan

President/CEO of Greenspan Consulting Inc., Robert Greenspan began his professional career with Moss Adams in 1979. He became a partner in 1985, then Los Angeles Managing Partner in 1995. In 2010 Rob founded Greenspan Consulting Inc., a consulting firm that specializes in providing financial and strategic planning services to the apparel industry. Rob has assisted clients in all aspects of their businesses such as preparing financial statements, obtaining financing, factoring, import, lines of credit, trade credit financing, drafting and implementing business plans and cash flow projections.  He has acted as the liaison between the client and the client’s lenders.  He has successfully aided clients in their planning for growth and expansion, as well as their plans to reduce their size or successfully transition their ownership.  He has been an expert witness in garment industry matters involving standards and practices. www.greenspanconsult.com
       
       

Tony Zhang

Director of Chinese Business Affairs

Tony Xiaoming Zhang is the President of a Shanghai, China-based apparel manufacturer, Newel Apparel.  Tony has a wealth of professional expertise in apparel manufacturing and almost twenty years of practical experience in supply chain management.  Newel Apparel provides full package services which include product development to manufacturing for several “fast fashion” retail chains in China.

Tony emigrated to Los Angeles in 2012 and established Platform, a subsidiary company of Newel Apparel, where local freelance designers in California provide their design services for the Chinese market. Through Platform, designers can gain an understanding of China’s fast-fashion market demand for American product design.  Tony hopes to build a bridge between the Chinese business economy and the American creative community.

Martin has practiced public accounting for over 20 years. He has provided assurance and consulting services to public and privately-held middle market clients in the apparel, manufacturing and distribution industries. Bob Berg, currently Director of International Business Development at Sourcing at MAGIC, has a extensive background in global apparel sourcing and international trade development. In his current position, Bob focuses on creating trade linkage between foreign trade groups and individual apparel producers and U.S. market professionals. In addition, Bob has held the position of V.P. of Sourcing and Production for a leading U.S. uniform firm as well as having acted as Vice President of a major national retail chain. Teri Watts brings 20 years of retail and internet experience to Shoppista.com, a software platform focused on marketing and selling online through social networks. Teri was a start up executive with Gap Stores Inc., participating in the company’s growth from 13 to over 600 stores. She combines this retail experience in operating stores, buying and merchandising, finance and logistics with web design skills developed during the dot.com years. with business partner, Edwin Salgado, as chief technology officer, Shoppista lauched the company’s public beta platform in December 2010 and has developed over 240 storefronts on the site to date. Previously the director of new business for the Western Region of the US and parts of Asia, Bob Lewin specialized in asset based lending for commercial transactions and non-recourse factoring. He focused on the needs of his clients and un-bundled the three parts of a factoring arrangement – credit protection, lending, and A/R administration. Ashleigh Kaspszak is the Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the New Mart building in Downtown LA. Her professional history includes starting a creative firm in 2006 that focused on operations, marketing and pr support, and in 2010 creating an eco-friendly, made in usa, luxury leather handbag line that appeared on national and international runways in it’s first season. She received an education from UCLA in the fields of Anthropology, Philosophy and Ethnomusicology, and is still very involved on campus and donating her time to various local non-profits throughout the year.

With her fashion consulting company, Design Alliance Group LLC, she works with apparel companies on Design, Marketing, Sales and Distribution to develop a “Branding” strategy. She has done consulting for companies such as Winter Kate, Chaser, Local Celebrity, Rebel Yell, etc. She was the principal founder of One World Apparel. Michelle Lee is an industry consultant and serves on the Advisory Board of Premier Business Bank, where she assists the bank in working towards strengthening its appeal to the local community. She is currently on the Board of Family Saver Center, where she has sponsored several projects as well as advised on operations, classes and marketing projects. From 2005 to 2010, she was Co-Owner and CFO of Bluprint Clothing Corp. Inc. Bluprint. Michelle was responsible for building the accounting department and infrastructure for design and production departments. She sold the company in 2010.

Farah Bhatti is Shareholder/Partner at Buchalter Nemer. She focuses her practice on all aspects of trademark prosecution including advising, counseling and securing trademark protection for clients, with an emphasis on the worldwide selection and enforcement of trademarks, and the enforcement of Internet and domain names. She also works closely with clients in formulating their domestic and international trademark protection and registration strategies. Farah navigates the complexities of issues within the areas of registration and enforcement without difficulty, drawing on experience in private practice as well as her previous position as a trademark examining attorney at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). While there, she examined more than 2,000 trademark applications and represented the USPTO before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). Farah frequently speaks on the topic of trademark protection at seminars, including those geared toward the fashion industry. www.buchalter.com

Jacqueline Snyder attended the prestigious Fashion School, Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, receiving a B.F.A. in Fashion Design and has worked in the industry for over 15 years. Before starting Designer Consulting Co-Op, she worked for Celeste by Norma LeNain, a couture bridal and eveningwear company; Cosabella, an Italian lingerie company; and J’aime by Jaime Pressly, a women’ s contemporary clothing line. With this experience she decided to go out on her own and launch the Designer Consulting Co-Op in 2007. She has sat on numerous panels and conducted multiple seminars with Frances and the FBI.  designerconsultingcoop.com
