Interior Design Question- Why is the bed trend for high off the ground beds that are impossible to sit on and have your feet on the ground, unless you happen to be a giant?
This question has been bothering me for some time and quite frankly I do not know the answer as to why this trend seems to be so popular. I stay in many places each year, either hotels or private homes and the high off the ground bed trend seems to be invasive in the US. Not so much in Europe and other parts of the World. The beds are placed to stand so high off the ground that it is impossible to sit on the edge of the bed and put your shoes on. Let alone the discomfort of when you must get up in the middle of the night to use the restroom. You need to be a gymnast to do a back flip or a high jump to get in and out of these ridiculous beds.
Some places I have stayed at even have little steps up to the bed so you can climb in! Well I for one hate this stupid trend that we all seem to blindly accept and not complain about. Is it that the interior designers are recreating the old English style with high four poster beds that stand high off the ground? Either way I wish we could get back to reality and practicality of a regular off the ground bed height that one can sit on with your feet still on the ground or get in and out of without breaking your neck!
