Good Fortune
Eva FortuneFletcher Hassenfelt describes Eva Fortune as a "Fusion of the old and the new." Indeed, ever since her design driven sister Zanne Hassenfelt started the company in 2001 by reworking vintage kimonos, the company philosophy has been to bring a touch of old
Hollywood glamour to the marketplace. Fletcher joined the company a year later as production and marketing manager. The twosome's first collaborative effort was the Spring 2003 collection, and they have garnered both critical and commercial success ever since.

The stylish sisters had plenty of inspiration and innate design skills, yet they needed practical advice on how to run an apparel firm. Hassenfelt credits the FBI
with offering support while they were building thecompany.  She says, "My sister and I learned about everything from obtaining our licenses to how many pieces we should have in the line. Frances Harder has been a mentor. She has let us ask all the questions we were afraid to ask. Even today, we continue to take advantage of the classes offered by the FBI."  Eva Fortune has also been included in the City Growth Contract that the
FBI has recently be awarded, which will provide consulting services at no cost to them.
Originally from North Carolina, Hassenfelt insists that the Southern penchant for "pretty things" hasinfluenced how both she and Zanne view each creation. Hassenfelt notes, "When we are working on a collection we constantly ask, 'Does this make a woman's body look pretty?' Sensuous draping and natural fabrics are used to craft clothing with a decidedly theatrical flair. It is such attention to detail that has won Eva Fortune a loyal following. Says Hassenfelt, "Our customer is confident. She knows the trends without being trendy. She is looking for something different that will set her apart from the crowd."
Hassenfelt notes that there are plans to add more items to the collection, including handbags. For now though, the duo is enjoying the challenge of presenting a new collection each season.  Hassenfelt says,"Our goal is to create timeless pieces that women love."
