Gerber Career Training: Introduction to WebPDM, Learn The Basics Of Navigating Through WebPDM.

This 4 week 4 Module course each module will teach you the following tools for WebPDM.

Module 1 – Introduction To WebPDM and Measurements
Learn the basics of navigating through WebPDM and how to use it as a tool to house your Measurements, Fit Evaluations and Quality Assurance information. Learn how to create a Point of Measurement (POM) library to quickly pull up your standard points of measurements, grade rules, tolerances and how to measure guide.\

Module 2 – Introduction To WebPDM and Construction/Sewing Details
Learn the basics of navigating through WebPDM how to use it as a tool to house your Sewing Instructions information. Learn how to create a Construction/Sewing Instructions library to quickly pull up your standard how-to-sew information.

Module 3 – Introduction To WebPDM and Design and Cost Specification Sheet

Learn the basics of navigating through WebPDM and how to use it as a tool to house your Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Cost Sheet information. Learn how to create a fabric and trim library to quickly pull up your standard or novelty raw materials.

Module 4 –Introduction To WebPDM and Line Sheets
Learn the basics of navigating through WebPDM and how to use it as a tool to house your Line Sheet information. The Line Sheet can be used as a design tool as well as a sales tool.

Drawing Technical Garment Flats By Hand (Production Flats)

Learn to draw measure and draw garments to scale by hand.  Bring a garment, grid paper - 10 squares to an inch, pencils, eraser, tape measurer, ruler, white out pen, and a fine point market (pilot razor point).  Learn some of the tricks of the trade for drawing clean professional looking productions flats that can be easily scanned into a computer or copied for use in line sheets.

Perfecting Fit Workshop

The FBI will present a series of six classes that will focus on teaching patternmaker and designers what is needed to make the necessary pattern changes to get that professional looking fit garment. Each class will focus on solving different fitting solutions.

Learn the basics of putting together Spec Packs for Domestic and Overseas Production.

Pad System Workshop: Computerized Patternmaking

Learn to use the PAD System, which offers an efficient, simple, and flexible approach to computerized patternmaking. This workshop is designed for Freelancers and small to large-sized manufacturers. PAD software operates on Mac and Windows platforms.

Adobe Illustrator For the Apparel Industry: Beginning Basic Drawing

This is a 4 session workshop. This workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Workbook included
  • Drawing flats
  • Line sheets
  • Spec sheets
  • Email Image
Pre requisite: Basic Computer Knowledge.

  • Basic tools and User Interface of Adobe Illustrator
  • Basics of vector drawing 
  • Creation of various flats 
  • Different types of fills 
  • Formatting and emailing our drawings

16 hour workshop

Photoshop For Fashion Professionals

Basic computer skills required, for example; right clicking, creating folders, saving documents and internet use. This four week class/workshop will be covering;

  • Basic tools and User Interface of Photoshop
  • Resolution issues with respect to printing and repeating patterns
  • Scanning fabric swatches, re-coloring and altering them
  • Creation of digital patterns (also called procedural) within Photoshop
  • Creating seamless patterns
  • Adding and manipulating the weave
  • Output procedures (color separation)
  • Creating a presentational document that will print high quality and email

16 hour workshop

Adobe Illustrator for Technical Designers

This four week class/workshop will focus on tasks specific to the position of technical designer such as:

  • Sketch and/or drawing revisions
  • Communication of construction details
  • Communication of corrections
  • Communicate positions of measurement 
  • Placement of engineered prints
  • Packaging issues
  • Hang tag placement
  • Communicate color block or areas of logo placement 
  • Format and optimize drawings for email
