ETP: California Job Skills Training Program

The Fashion Business Incorporated (FBI) has been awarded a training grant from the California’s Employment Training Panel (ETP).  The Employment Training Panel (ETP) is a State agency that assists employers in strengthening their competitive edge by providing funds to off-set the costs of job skills training necessary to maintain high-performance workplaces.

  • The ETP program is performance-based, providing funds for trainees who successfully complete training, retention period and are retained in well-paying jobs for a specific period of time.
  • The program is funded by the Employment Training Tax paid by California employers, and targets firms threatened by out-of-state and international competition.
  • ETP also funds training for unemployed workers.
  • ETP prioritizes small businesses, manufacturers and employers in high unemployment areas of the State.
  • The program is the State's premier economic development tool, encouraging many companies to locate or expand in California with the assistance of ETP's job training funds.

The ETP program is available to most California companies that pay into the State Unemployment Insurance fund which is paid through your companies’ pay roll taxes.  There are few exceptions.  The FBI’s program is designed to serve the garment and apparel companies and new start-up companies who need assistance in becoming more profitable.  Large or small companies are eligible to participate.

In addition, all of the training programs offered by the FBI are eligible under the ETP agreement.   All of the courses are designed specifically to address the ever changing industry needs of the apparel and textile industry.  The program provides customized support to the company as a whole which promotes continued growth and profitability. A sample of the training programs that are available to your employees includes software training on AIMS, PAD, International Trade and much more.
